Blue

Blue

Blue is a mortal woman veiled in the ethereal glamour of the Fey, handmaiden to the elusive Starborn Lady of the Court of Wind and Stars. She moves like a whisper through the shimmering halls of the Starborn Lady’s celestial palace, her presence marked by a muted elegance and a haunting, melancholic grace.   Her eyes, once warm and full of life, have grown shadowed with the weight of her fear and unyielding vigilance. They are a deep, midnight blue that glimmers with flecks of silver, a reflection of the stars that surround her but lack the wonder they might once have held. Her expressions are soft and controlled, masking the uncertainty and dread that haunt her every day, for she knows that her place within the Starborn Lady’s court is merely an afterthought.   Blue’s duties are often lonely, tending to the Starborn Lady’s many distant tasks in silence, from polishing her celestial mirrors to ensuring that the star-lit hallways remain undisturbed by mortal intrusions. She speaks little, always moving with a calm precision, lest she draw any unwanted attention to herself. Her fear is palpable, lurking just beneath her composed exterior; she knows well that the Starborn Lady’s attention is fleeting and fickle, her gaze drifting to those things that shine brighter or serve a purpose more immediately useful.   Despite the fear, Blue is meticulous and diligent in her duties, pouring her heart into every action, though she receives neither praise nor comfort from the ones she serves. When the Starborn Lady deigns to notice her, it is only in passing, a distant acknowledgement, as though she were merely a part of the landscape of stars and clouds. Blue holds her breath during these moments, her heart chilled by the knowledge that she is nothing more than a tool to the Lady—a convenience, not a person. She knows that the Lady could replace her without a second thought, and that she would make no effort for Blue's return to the mortal world.   Though she often stifles it, there is a quiet longing in Blue, a flickering hope that perhaps, one day, she might escape the starlit prison of her duties and regain her humanity. But as each night passes and the stars continue their distant dance, that hope grows dimmer, obscured by the vast, uncaring beauty of the Court of Wind and Stars and the ever-watchful, emotionless gaze of the Starborn Lady. Blue’s every day is an exercise in survival, a delicate balancing act between duty and the silent, unyielding terror of being discarded like a burnt-out star.
