Session 11: In the Hands of Cultists Report
General Summary
We start with Rahl having a talk with former training partner and ex. After a bit of uncomfortable conversation and Rahl being pinned against a tree, he decided to escalate the encounter by using his Breath of the Dragon on her. They exchanged blows and Rahl unsuccessfully tried to escape from her grapple ending with Rahl being knocked unconscious.
Rahl woke up to Durgat splashing water on his face, her mood seemingly much improved after getting out some of her frustrations.
After a bit more talking and catching up she noticed some yelling coming from the direction of the raider's mostly abandoned camp and the two went rushing off. Rahl attempted to grab a staff out of Durgat's bag as he went by, failed and tripped, but they continued rushing off to the camp.
The party continued to fight Frulam, and it wasn't looking good for them. With some much needed healing from Lorilla bringing up Tanaelia then Mitzu, and Mitzu with a very impactful Snake (Unicorn) Totem combined with a Wither and Bloom taking out a ton of enemies healing the party.
Rahl and Durgat rushed into the cave shortly after the party won their fight and saw the remains of Tails laying in a heap and rushed onward to find the group. Rahl triggered a trap on the steps going down into the fungi forest and was attacked by several violet mushroom things, but dodged passed them all and rushed into the next room. Upon entering he was immediately beset by a flock of stirges hidden in among bats which all flew out in a rush of beating wings or attacked Rahl and his companion.
Rahl assumed that he must have went the wrong way since clearly his party would have took care of all the stirges since they aren't sneaky enough to have snuck past without disturbing them and headed back the way he came. He didn't see any other route at first, but continued searching until he found a passageway hidden by deep shadow and the angle of the cave tunnels.
Meanwhile, Jameak noticed the room that he found himself in after chasing the last of the cultists who unsuccessfully tried to flee seemed to function as something of an office of some sort. Spread open on one of the tables is a simple map of the Greenfields area showing the villages the cult attacked and looted. An arrow is sketched in from the Greenfields toward the west and the town of Beregost on the Trade Way, where the arrow turns north. A separate sheet of paper that is covered with numerals in columns contains the note, "Everything must be freighted north to Naerytar. Rezmir allowed us to keep some pearls, a ring, and a handful of small stones." Other papers are of less interest; most of them have bad poetry about dragons. He called the rest of the party in before handing this to Lorilla and asking what she makes of it.
At the same time Mitzu briefly goes back into what appears to be the former storeroom with the sleeping cultist, but the cultists seem to have emptied it out except for a few empty crates and bit of debris and he heads back to the party.
About this time, Rahl heads in still loudly telling Durgat about his party and their positive qualities. The party seem to accept Durgat readily enough after hearing a brief summary of what happened an who she is. The group gives Rahl a bit of a talking to about communication and not leaving friends and family without a word, mostly headed by Lorilla and Nivek.
Some more discussion is had, which I would have been able to describe in greater detail if I had been able to get it written up the night of instead of getting busy and them forgetting that I hadn't done it until our next scheduled session two weeks later. (In other words, now, as I'm typing this :P )
