Bargains with Others

Others are capable of breaking some of the rules, such as those that are usually used to bind the Oathsworn. The trades that most Others might perform, and the effects such trades have on your person, are outlined here.  

Deals Made

 

• Swear on your "x/y"

: Often an Other will command a practitioner to swear on something, be warned, agreeing to this, even by accident results in the deal being sealed. If an other says "Swear on your Power." it will literally steal Wands from your Wands deck if you fail to fullfil your end of the bargain. They can become more nefarious, saying things like "Your love." or "Your final breath." Its best to just say no outright to these sorts of things, making an oath on Power or an Aspect is best, as you loose the least if you break them. Thankfully when you break one of these sorts of contracts, its usually a minor loss, only a few cards and a few points of negative karma is usually all that is taken.  

• Sign the Contract

: Less common, but some Others have a preference for the old ways. Should you be provided a contract, you should read it in its entirety, and be sure to point out every last contingency and loophole. The Other will only follow the letter of that contract, and so should you. Make sure you aren't getting screwed. Contracts often take a lot more from you if you don't fullfill your end of things. Your soul, your firstborn, your family, your name, your home, emotions, etc. Contracts are harder to break. Verbal contracts are even less common, but if a Fey starts listing one off, it is HIGHLY reccomended that you do not make any affirmations until it is written down. Fey love to trick people into bad contracts by flooding their speech with legalese.  

• Something Physical

Be extremely wary of these sorts of deals. Others don't want physical things very often, unless they are an extremely weak variety (like a goblin) an other that asks to take something from your coat, and allows you to remove anything you don't want to loose before you hand it over, might be after your nametag that you have written on the inside collar. Sometimes they want an artefact of power you carry, other times its something more nefarious.  

• A Trade of Karma

Karmic Trades are the safest form of trading with Others, as both parties must agree to the trade before the Karma can be transferred. This ability of Karmic transfer seems to be exclusive to Others, as even Practitioners are unable to give others positive Karma or trade in it. Karma therefore has become a sort of currency to Others.
