Overview

The Naanan are a group of Utumites originally from the region around the city of Temel, who were uprooted during the Ataarad migrations. They are deeply religious and rather crafty as a people.

Name

The Naanan are known by their imperial exonym - meaning City of the Boon (Naunnanna ->Naunnannari). They refer to themselves as Shketva - which means the faithful.

Culture

Ingenuity and Tradition

The Naanan are usually very traditional and opposed to doing new things, but being a small group has forced this change of becoming inventors for the court due to their high value of education in society. The inventor Emod is said to have created the first automatons as a way to gain favor with the Ataarad overlords.

Values

The Naanan value highly faith, education, and literacy. The Naanan have a written series of religious texts that require these values in order to preserve their way of life. The Naanan are also highly educated folks with many local schools of sorts being funded.

Religion

The Naanan are a highly religious people, worshipping a single god known as Heth or Pheth. He is primarily honored through animal sacrifice, asceticism, communal prayers, and poetry.
