Undosum steel

Undosum steel was first manufactured in the eastern mountains from ingots of Araos steel that were then forced into various kinds of weapons or pieces of armour. Due to blades that were forged from Undosum steel, the steel became famous all over Mirateia, with rumours being that it could cut through other swords or even split a hair on the edge of the blade.   Undosum steel would when it was being worked into the blades, would be folded between 200 and 250 times during the process, with each fold, the toughness of the steel would increase due to the thinning and refinement of the structure in the steel.   When the Undosum steel and the technique to make it first became known all over Mirateia, it was believed that this would change the world and make most if not all of the current pieces of armour worthless as this steel could be made into weapons that could pierce all the current types of armour, and while Undosum steel could be forges into armour as well, it was harder to do this and blacksmiths instead elected to add small pieces of Undosum steel to the most vital areas of the body instead of making an entire suit of armour.   Some time after the Undosum steel were widely known, the production of the needed Araos steel ingots began to decline and scholars have debated for long over what reasons there must have been for this decline, some theorise that due to the distance the ingots had to travel from their place of origins to the blacksmiths in the eastern mountains the traderoutes were vulnerble to disruption. Other scholars believe that the impurities in the steel that made the steel have its special properties slowly became absent in the production for various reasons. Likewise there are also theories that say that the technique to precisly control the thermal cycling after the initial forging at certain temperatures became lost and that with the lost of this technique the steel lost its appeal. A theory that all scholars subscripe to are that the area of origins for the Araos steel ingots many times changes hands and that it was this that finally killed the production of Undosum steel, but this is the basis theory that all the other theories are building on.

I like the detail that they only use the steel on vital areas because it is too expensive to make a whole suit.

Thanks, had to make it "rare" to some degree
