Temple of Fira

There lies a forgotten temple dedicated to the goddess of war in a remote corner of the Empire of Dercia.   Back in its prime, the temple was a prominent place for followers of Fira to pilgrimage to at least once in their lives, not only was the temple one of the places where the goddess from time to time showed herself and spoke with her followers but the landscape around it were also considered holy as it was one of the few places with floating rocks.   No one is sure when it started to happen but over time the temple received fewer and fewer visitors as the people began to follow the new goddess Mara whose influence had grown alongside the spread of the Crienia people and their Empire.     Back in the day, the temple would have a series of rooms where the worshippers could enter to pray to different aspects of the goddess and in the centre of the temple would be a large golden statue of the goddess surrounded by lamps and incense giving the room an intense feeling when the worshippers walk in, but as the temple began to decay due to the decrease in followers of Fira, more and more of the side rooms were closed off. When the last priest of the temple died, it was only the main room that was left in decent condition.   Over the years, the temple fell into ruin and slowly began to crumble, unlike other abandoned temples that were plundered and raided for artefacts, the temple of Fira never experienced this as even if the people no longer worshipped Fira they still respected the area and temple and the temple have been allowed to keep its treasure and artefacts.

Aww, temples in ruin and decay make me sad. Beautiful art too.
