Taking the king´s Verti
Taking one's Verti is the term used in some taverns and other watering holes around the area and in certain regions of the Principality of Clifia. While no one is quite sure where the term originates from, some believe it's connected to another similar term To drown one's Verti, which is a term used when one needs to drown one's sorrow. Some believe that "taking the king's Verti" is connected to this saying, but both terms are old enough that the original meaning has been lost. One local theory is that it originated from a time when kings ruled Pearlhal and has been passed down in taverns and similar establishments ever since.
The moments when one might encounter the term "Taking the king's Verti" are typically when one is out in town getting more drunk than a Norilans left alone in a wine cellar. Its typically used when the person in question is several cups in and is only holding it together by sheer force of will of not throwing up in front of that cute barmaid. In such cases, the saying might be said about the person that they have taken the king's Verti.
It's one of the terms that has spread outside both city and state borders. It's unknown when it first showed up in the Principality of Clifia, but based on the cities where it's common usage, it can with some certainty be said that merchants from the Empire brought it with them when they settled down in the Clifian cities, the usage did fall in use during the war of Western expansion as it was seen to be dangerous to be openly Imperial in Clifian territory.
