Stratonike Mochi

The Stratonike Mochi was first described back in 906 by Macarius Thaïs.    The female are typically larger than the males with rounder and broader wings; their wings can reach a wingspan of between 30-35 centimeters. The females colouring ranges from brown wings, but they can also be found with green or even a blueish colouring, although they are exceptionally rare. The body tends to be a light brown with a white line running down the middle, with a tiny amount of fur on the thorax.    The males are slightly smaller due to the sexual dimorphism of the species, their wigs are more angular than the females and comes with an iridescent bluish colouring with red edges. the body of the males are a faint green colour, and with a wingspan of 25-28 centimeres, but the most common observed size is in the low 20s.

Eggs

The eggs of the Stratonike Mochi are large, with a faint blueish tint and flattened at the base and are typically laid in clusters in the crevices of the tree bark, where the female lays up to 200 eggs.

Larva

Once the larva emerges from their eggs, they begin to eat the eggshells before they move on to foliage, the colouring of the larva is typically black with markings thath help it camoflage on the trees, at this stadie of their life, its impossible to deterime if the larva is going to turn out to be female or male although some scholars have theorised that the males hatch slighly later than those that become female.

Pupa

The pupa of the Stratonike Mochi is a metalic blue or green, with markings that is meant to tell predators that they are poisonous. The time taken for the Stratonike Mochi to develop from egg to pupa is between 4-7 weeks, with the pupal stage taking another month. ones they are ready, the Stratonike Mochi emerge during the early morning hours when the humidity is still high, this is a way to help prevent their wings from drying out before they have been fully expanded.

Adults

The adults of the Stratonike Mochi can live up to tree years and they have only a few predators once they reach this stage of their life, mostly in the form of small birds. The adults feed on flowers that are large and strong enough for them to land on and they are mostly active during the early mornings before the temperature rises to much. Males might patrol areas for newly emerged females where the courtship will begin with the male hovering above the female, dousing her with pollen from plants, if the female is receptive, they will allow the male to land and pair, if she is not interested, she will simply fly off.
