Sami

Sami is the name given to a famous whale that had its territory just outside the harbour of Pearlhal in the years 1245-1249   Although it didn't gain its fame in a good way, it gained its fame by hunting the ships coming in and out of the harbour over four years. Its terror caused great concern for the seafarers of the city, and those sailors sailed to the city.    The whale was given its name, Sami, after a legendary sea monster that is said to have fought a war against the gods. In the legends, the sea monster eventually lost its fight against the gods, but during its battle, it had made the seas safe for the mortals to travel on. Due to its battle being cut short, it never managed to tame the western seas, resulting in the legends No one sails west   During the period when Sami were hunting in the waters around Pearlhal, it didnt do it continuously, sometimes it disappeared for weeks and or months, its not known where it went during these times, its known that Sami didnt frequent other hunting grounds during these periods as no whale have been reported during these times, so its whereabouts are still unknown. Samis' presence around the harbour made the captains of the ships sailing into harbour take detours, sailing along the coast for as long as possible and as close to shore as possible to avoid Sami in the shallow waters.   Emperor Malthin II wantd Sami caught and several attempts were tried but as if Sami knew attempts to capture it was being made, it disappeared for these longs periods of time.   Some time in 1249, Sami went on one of its periods of disappearance and as the months went on without any signs of the whale, theories began to spread, ranging from Sami having died to that Sami actually being a person that was able to change their appearance.
