Poranel Virethus

Senator

Poranel Virethus was a half-elven stateman who lived during a turbulent period of rebellions and a few external threats.   Poranel Virethus was born in the coastal city of Sereval to a merchant family but managed to rise to the rank of senator on the grounds of both his wealth from his trading company and that he appealed to some of the more common voters.   To the people living in the Empire of Dercia  today, Poranel Virethusis is remembered for being one of those personalities who redefined the Dercian identity and laid the foundation for a more unified cultural and military superpower, emerging from a collection of conquered lands.   Once Poranel Virethus had become a senator, he dedicated his time to first create and the gather enough support to push his Civitas Condor Edict through the senate, the edict was a reform that allowed provincial people, those in the newly conqoured territories to gain citizenship through military service, the edict helped build a sense of loyalty across the provinces and the Legions gained new recruiting grounds, something they needed due to the constant state of conflict that was the First unification war    Because of his status as a visionary there are plenty of myths surronding him and his life, like the poem that was written a few centuries after his death that mythologizes his ability as a speaker and tells a story of him stopping a uprising simply by walking into the middle of the local forum and argue his case for a peaceful solution.   His burial crypt are located in his hometown and are sometimes visited by diplomates who share his school of thought, likewise there are a replica of his gravestone located in a memorial park in Pearlhal
