Naiyara
Naiyara is a young member of the Sárvannen. She is known among her kin as being calm, thoughtful, with a quiet strength that outsiders more often than not misinterpret as shyness. Naiyara rarely raises her voice, but she tends to speak in a way that automatically makes those around her fall silent and listen.
Naiyara grew up in a silt-hut village. She often helps her grandmother gather herbs. When she was a child, she was one of the few who was willing to approach Clifian riverboats, being curious, unafraid, and being able to easily pick up languages. Over the years picked up their language. Despite her, for an Sárvannen, being very young, she often found herself at the center of the meetings between her kin and the Clifians whenever these demanded guides through the marshlands. Due to her role as a diplomat among her people, she is one of the few Sárvannen who speak fluent Clifian, an ability that she typically uses when outsiders need to navigate the marshlands or if merchants come to trade.
Being observant, she can read the currents of the water in the marshland, ensuring that she rarely takes a wrong turn. It also makes her excellent at reading human expressions, making her the go-to diplomat for her clan when they, on the rare occasion, have to interact with outsiders. Among those she trusts and calls friends, a dry, understated sense of humour often surfaces.
Being a member of the Sárvannen, she moves through the marshland as only a native to those lands can, being able to walk across reed beds that others would sink into and get stuck in. She knows the riverways of the marsh as the back of her hand, able to pilot skiffs with effortless precision. While she is no expert in herbal medicine, she has been told enough to have a basic understanding of how to make medicines that can draw out a fever and poultices that can help against burns and swelling; likewise, she has been told how to make poisons that can help in hunting for wildlife.
Despite many of her interactions with the Clifians being cold and business-like, she has overheard Clifians, when they thought she could not hear them, talk about her being strange, superstitious, too quiet to be trustworthy, and bog-born. Naiyara has, over the years, learned to just let the insults and looks slide like rain on reeds, although they still sting a little.
