Imperator-class

The Imperator-class can best be described as a cut down version of the Aquillia class, the idea was pitched by one of the admirals of the navy who were a drinking buddy with a general of one of the legions, they had over a few flasks of wine concluded that the the navy could better support the army in its operations along the rivers and coastal regions if it had a ship that instead of being focused on regular combat, it would instead be armed with more than double the normal amount of bolt throwers positioned in such a way that one ship with a broadside could bring at least four bolt throwers to bear on the enemy.   Having sobered up and reassumed their discussion, they figured out that the idea was still sound to a sober mind; they also knew that there was little chance that the treasurey, the eternal enemy of the navies of the world, would approve its construction, instead they came up with the idea of taking an already existing class of ship and modify it to suit their needs. The choice fell on the Aquillia-class ship due to their size and available numbers; they believed they could easily get one or two to turn into a prototype.     It took a few months to convince the treasury to give them the founding, but they managed and after having modified the ships they went on to test them, the result exceeding their expectations, as a result of these test, the navy ordered several new ships and they were attaced two to each of the naval legions with several kept in bases along the coast ready to assist when a legion needed to conduct a naval invasion.
