Harkuun

Harkuun is the name given to a cave system, it lays beyond ancient waystones and old watchtowers reduced to rubble as time marched on. It's located in a ravine that's hidden in nearly perpetual darkness; the only time when sunlight reaches the bottom of the ravine is during the longest day of the year. The Harkuun cave system is partically above ground but some of the tunnels streches deep below ground, and many are believed to be flooded, although there are no trustworthy souces for that, as the deep vents and echoing sinkholes in the caves are enough to keep most away.   Its been so illegal to go near the cave system for so many generations that the purpose for the ban have long been forgotten and lost. Maps of the area have the caves and ravine marked with warning sigils that light up with the words "Do not enter"   Locals of the area claim that the ravine and caves are the place where the breath of the dead gods exhals from the ground and infects the nearby area with madness. Local authorities once had patrols patrolling the area, but due to countless desertions and disappearances, it was abandoned.  

They say that a local lass once fled into the Harkuun, maybe to escape justice who knows... She was never found again but last year, they found a young womans shoe, it was polished and maintained, looked almost new... only that it was of a model that had not been worn in the area for centuries.
