Geta Sand-sailer

Geta Sand-sailers are one of the ways that some of the desert tribes in the deserts around Mirateia travel through the dunes. It's not the ideal mode of transport for large amounts of cargo or large numbers of people, but it offers a way for small groups of people to cover vast distances quickly. Due to the limited capacity of the Geta Sand-sailer, each tribe typically have several, with some carrying only a limited crew but instead are carrying the tribes tents and other forms of equipment.   The Geta Sand-sailer are very light constructions made out of wood and are equipped with runners that make the craft able to slide across the desert sand. The Geta Sand-sailors are equipped with a sail in the middle of the craft that can catch the wild desert winds that blow over the desert and the tribes living in the deserts had long ago learned how to harvest the wind and move around from one oasis to another, saving the tribes from having to wander the sand and being out in the baking sun for to long at the time.   The Geta Sand-sailer in design are very similar to the catamarans that some coastal people use and some scholars based on stories that the desert tribes tell, believe that at some point in time, a group of desert people found a catamaran that had been left behind on the coast, fixed a sail to it and discovered that it was able to slide over the sand of the coast, after they had lightened the craft a bit more, throwing stuff way that they as a desert people had no use for, and began to slide over the sands and began a new era of transportation for the tribes in the deserts as they relativly quickly found out about this new transport metod and adopted it.
