Emperor-consort

The Empire of Dercia has its share of consorts to the monarch during its time as a kingdom, it was typically reserved for when a female took to the throne and due to several prophecies that a member of the Astalles dynasty should always be the one sitting on the trone, so the title of prince or king-consort were typically given to the husband of the queen to ensure that she ranked highest.   When the kingdom transformed into the Empire, Empress Krea Astalles didn't have a husband, so there was never a need for the senate to discuss the role of a potential husband. The empresses who followed during the Decade of 5 Emperors civil war were too occupied to have the discussion.   But when Emperor Malthin II he took the throne and later had a daughter as his firstborn, Crown Princess Ira , who would at some point become empress, the discussion of the title for her husband was bound to arise when she became old enough.   It is a well-known topic at this point that, ever since the relationship between the Crown Princess and the Imperial Guard Azran became official, correspondence between the Emperor and the Princess has concerned the proper title for Azran when Ira takes over the throne. Currently, Azran holds the title Governor over the province of Nacaeus  

"No" Emperor Malthin said calmly but firmly placing his hands on the table in front of him.   "What do you mean no? it is my wish as heir!" Crown princess Ira said firmly, crossing her arms and fixing her father with a stare that could kill.   "Ira... I like the kid, but he is a commoner, and not even a Crienia" Malthin knew that he was stepping onto dangerous ground.   Ira tightened her jaw and her glare which could have killed a god at this point were fixed directly at her father   "Just a...." Ira began but stopped, turned around and walked out of the room.
