The Duracarn Concordate is one of the newest trading companies, but despite its young age, it has already achieved considerable success in terms of mercantile power and influence. Originally, they were formed as a small trade coalition between merchant guilds and a few noble houses. Over the following century, the Duracarn Concordate has grown into a quasi-sovereign trading power that commands its fleets, officially for the protection against pirates and privateers. They also operate a few legion-sized armies. Many have compared them to a small empire in terms of raw power alone, but when combined with their economic might, they might even eclipse some smaller states.   The trading company got its name from the old Dercian words Duram carna which means "golden flesh" a meaning that have two main uses in the Dercian language, one is to be a description of wealth itself, the other, a slightly more sensual meaning, as it could also be used by some to discripe the skin of another person to be without faults and perfect. Likewise, the symbol of the company is that of a coiled golden serpent devouring its tail, while wrapped around a merchant's scale, its meant to represent eternal profit.   The Duracarn Concordate have over the years accured several exclusive rights to trade in many key areas, they are one of the few trading companies that willingly sail into the unknown lands and bring ecotic goods back to sell. There are rumours that they have a fleet used for the transport of slaves being traded in the nation of Zadad.   Many officials view the Duracarn Concordate as an potential superpower should the company choose to become its own state, due to its connections with the unknown regions, its theoried that the company may hold significant amounts of land in these areas and could become the 4th superpower in Mirateia at any time.
