Amara Macer

Amara Macer is a young servant working at the Royal Palace of Dercia, she comes from a poor Odravian family that migrated to Pearlhal in search of work. Her father found work at the dockyards, loading and unloading ships arriving in the capital, and her mother worked in the household of a merchant. When her family moved to Pearlhal, Amara was still too young to have a proper job, being only 14. However, she was still old enough to earn the odd coin here and there by doing small errands for merchants and the like. It was after having done these types of jobs for a couple of years that she landed the job as a junior servant at the Imperial palace, where she have been working for the last 3 years.   As a junior servant, her tasks include tasks that keep the imperial household functioning smoothly, like fetching and delivering written messages between officials, preparing the chambers for the imperial family, and running errands through the corridors of the palace. Amara Macer is among a select few servants who are trusted with important documents, not because of her status but because she is known for being discreet.   Being a servant at the Imperial palace means that she lives in the servants' dormitory for female servants, where she rises before dawn, eating some plain food from the servants' kitchen but when banquets are held at the palace, she is sometimes able to sneak a few pieces of good meat back home to her family when she helps clear the banquet room. Working at the palace means that Amara is used to seeing senators argue loudly in the marble halls of the palace, hearing rumours long before they reach the streets, but most importantly, she knows which corridors to avoid when powerful people are displeased and being invisible, due to her status, when needed and conspicuous only when ordered.
