Shroudwalkers
The Shroudwalkers (also referred to as Shroud Witches) are a secretive order of psionic practitioners dedicated to uncovering the mysteries of psionics and the Shroud. The origins of the Shroudwalkers are unknown, but they appear to have been in operation for many thousands of years. The Shroudwalkers operate out of a number of starbases across the galaxy, constructed from large asteroids in systems where the barrier between realspace and the Shroud is thin.
While the Shroudwalkers tend to keep to themselves, they are willing to aid others in exploring the mysteries of the Shroud - at a price. In addition to dispatching teachers and advisors, they offer services such as divination, and for trusted partners, psychic insight into others. For psions, the Shroudwalkers are known to provide more direct insights into the Shroud and its effects on realspace. Due to the cost of dealing with the Shroudwalkers, their customers are primarily limited to states and megacorporations. Occasionally, however, individual Shroud Witches have been spotted wandering the galaxy and offering their psionic services for free.
The Shroud Witches are all Toqluu, a mysterious and enigmantic species that has never been identified outside of the Shroudwalker covens. They are highly insular, refusing to allow any outsiders to join their covens, and always wearing a distinctive red veil that obscures their appearance and disrupts sensors.
