Minamar

Minamar is a habitable relic world, notable for being the homeworld of the Olinbar and the capital of Minamar Specialized Industries. The planet is the third satellite of the Paraga System and has one moon of its own. Approximately three thousand years ago, the planet was entirely encased by urban sprawl, becoming an ecumenopolis, or city-world. However, at some point it was heavily bombarded by some hostile force, and the inhabitants mostly killed. Following this and thousands of years of neglect, the planet is now completely covered by ancient ruins of past Olinbar glory. Failed climate control systems have created large seas, and most of the currently-uninhabited parts of the planet have been reclaimed by nature. Based on the planet's existing hydrosphere and tectonic plates, it is believed that Minamar was once a continental world.

Although the old Olinbar empire collapsed, the planet's population has since recovered and reclaimed substantial portions of the planet. Inhabited regions have had their crumbling structures torn down to their foundations and rebuilt from the ground up. Combined with large-scale atmospheric filtering and monitoring, major settlements on Minamar likely bear strong resemblance to how the planet looked before its fall. The capital of the planet and home to the executive headquarters of MSI, Oppidium, is considered by many to be one of the greatest settlements in the known galaxy. A massive spire dominates the city, hailing from the time of the old Olinbar empire, and is believed to have been Minamar's centre of governance. It managed to survive the fall of the planet, and with substantial reconstruction, became the executive headquarters for MSI.

Despite the urban development, large sections of the planet remain covered in ancient ruins. One of the largest industries on Minamar is the reclamation of these ruins. Surveyors venture out to map ruined buildings and infrastructure, identifying which can be restored and which must be torn down. When their work is complete, armies of slaves are used to clear rubble, demolish buildings, and begin the restoration process for a district. As these reclamation efforts are naturally on the outskirts of inhabited regions, they provide ample opportunities for slaves to escape. As such, there are rumoured to be tens or hundreds of thousands of escaped slaves hiding in ruins across the planet, and Olinbar security patrols regularly search for (and in many cases, find) them.

Two main industries dominate Minamar: finance and slavery. As the home of the Minamar Stock Exchange, the planet is one of the largest hubs for commerce in the galaxy. Many corporations in the banking, retail, transportation, pharmaceutical, insurance, finance, research, advertising, and trade sectors have an office on Minamar, if not their headquarters. Many of these corporations are foreign, and despite the perceived conflict of interest with a corporate government, MSI encourages foreign investment with relaxed regulations and beneficial laws. At the same time, the MSI business of indentured pre-FTLs is on full display on Minamar. Approximately half of the planet's population are indentured servants. Although most MSI core worlds now have 'processing facilities', complexes designed to rapidly condition indentured servants, Minamar was originally the hub through which all acquired labour assets were processed.
