This is one such telling, the Bard’s Chronology as told at Skaldholm, meant to provide a useful history of Midgard’s days from long ago to the current struggles against giants, dragons, and horrors from the dark.
Any event that took place before the first age is known as Before Midgard or BM. These events take place over an unknown amount of time and having varying accounts depending on who the story is told by.

Ymir, the All-Father of all Giant-Kind is slain by the combined forces of the Gods. From his corpse they craft and create Midgard to whom the Giants also lay claim.
The Aesir-Vanir War begins and lasts for an unknown amount of time. Wotan searches for a way to beat the Vanir which eventually leads him to the enemy territory of Vanaheim. There he finds the Well of Knowledge guarded by the Fey Spirit known as "Tim the Enchanter". Tim tricks Wotan into cutting out his own eye in exchange to use the Well. Instead of seeing how to end the war; Wotan saw enigmatic and confusing visions of an event known as Ragnarok. Tim then offered an answer to Wotan's original question but in return Wotan had to take Tim with him when he left. Wotan agreed and Tim revealed the Aesir-Vanir war can not be won by either side. Instead Tim acted as a mediator between both sides, bringing peace and an end to the Aesir-Vanir War.
Volund and Thor create the very first dwarves from the stone of Svartalfheim to oppose elven smiths.
The northern dwarven kingdom falls. The surviving dwarves declare war on the elves. The elves flee from the North.
The Northlands completely freezes over in a thick layer of ice. Any and all history of this event has been lost to time. Over countless years the ice slowly melts and will take countless more years from the current year to fully thaw.
A race of humanoids migrate from a far away and long forgotten land to the east. They land on the eastern shores of what now would be known as the Southlands. From here they begin to migrate all over Midgard. This race would eventually become known as humans.
Nuria Natal is officially first formed as a country by humans. Some even ascend into gods.
A few of the gods ascended from Nurian humans betray their fellow gods and worshippers in favor of power. They are sealed away underneath the sands of the desert.
Aten, the current God-King of Nuria at the time ascends to godhood. He becomes the Sun God, the supreme deity of the Southlands.
The people west of Nuria across its great lake rebel against Nuria's rule. Their rebellion is succesful and they found the nation of Ishadia.
The Elven Gods create the Shadow Roads using the Ley Lines of Midgard.
The High Elven Imperium grows its empire across Midgard and enters its Golden Age.
The dwarves create their first and largest underground capital of Ironcrag. They quickly develop a network of underground roads that link many of their underground cities all over Midgard. These roads would become known as the Old Roads. The dwarves enter their Golden Age.
Three Windlords of the Dominion banish Boreas the North Wind to the Northlands.
Minotaurs make their way from Kryperion to the main continent of Midgard. They land on the eastern shores of the Southlands.
The Elven Gods and many of the elves retreat from all the realms into Alfheim and close all ways into the realm. The Elven Golden Age comes to an end.
Human societies begin spreading into land previously ruled by the High Elven Imperium. Old elven cities are converted into human settlements.
Skaldholm and Jomsborg are officially formed within the Northlands.
King Triton unites many of the aquatic races and forms the Spears of Triton.
The Magocracies in the West are formed under the rule of powerful mages.
The Ghoul Imperium is founded by the Erstwhile, a society of undead elves ruled by an elven lich.
The High Elven Noble House Stross begins to govern the Crossroads.
House Stross builds the City of Zobeck as a symbol of their power within the region.
Nilfgaard is officially founded within the region of Novigrad. It is ruled by its first king, King Ordine Lucious.
King Ordine Lucious is laid to rest in their tomb. Close friend and trusted advisor to the king, Mordenkainen, seals the kings infamous sword halfway inside a stone. It is then prophesied that one day the king shall rise from their tomb, reclaim their sword, and unite their broken kingdom.
The Ghoul Imperium uses the Old Roads to invade many of the Dwarven Cities. The Old Roads fall out of dwarven control. Ironcrag becomes the last great dwarven stronghold. The Dwarven Golden Age comes to an end.
A female led nomadic tribe from the Rothenian Plains migrate east and found the city of Perunalia.
The city of Morgau is founded upon the ruins of an old elven city. Its people become known as the Eastern Kingdom.
The people of the eastern shores found the Electoral Kingdom of Krakova and build their first city.
During an encounter with the god Loki; Mordenkainen has his mind twisted and corrupted by the trickster god causing him to fall into a fit of madness that would last for years. Without Mordenkainen's guidance the Magocracies would soon fall into war.
The Magocracies of the west begin to war with one another.
The Arch Mage Mordenkainen separates all the negative energy from his body and the madness from his mind, however, this had an unforeseen consequence. His energy and madness took upon a form of its own and would become known as the Mage Tyrant Mordenkaiser.
During a brief period during the Mage Wars; the majority of the Magocracies unite under Mordenkainen in an attempt to stop the Mage Tyrant Mordenkaiser. They almost fail, however, due to betrayal from within; Mordenkaiser is defeated and slain. The Mage Wars continue soon after.
The Red Dragon Mharot makes a pact with his draconic neighbors and gathers a large number of drakes, wyverns, dragonborn followers, fanatic kobolds, and many others of dragonkind. Together they form the first Dragon Empire located within the Dragoncoil Mountains.
The Magocracies get ahold of all six World Runes and use them as weapons against one another. This devastates the land, destroys the ley lines in the west, and weakens many other ley lines within Midgard. The World Runes are then lost, not having appeared again since.
As a last ditch effort to win the Mage Wars, one of the Magocracies uses its magic to summon creatures from the Void known as the Dread Walkers. However this only backfires as the Dread Walkers lay waste to the west. Many of the Magocracies are destroyed; the last of them perform a ritual to freeze the Dread Walkers in time and are successful. However those who performed the ritual did so at the cost of their own lives.
The Eastern Kingdom of Morgau turns to blood magic and falls into vampiric rule. It becomes known as the Blood Kingdom.
A mage from the fallen Magocracies becomes the master of Demon Mountain.
After the pirates of the Ocean Expanse nearly destroyed one another, they formed the Pirate Syndicate in an attempt to organize piracy and sustain their way of life.
Many merchant companies come together in a desperate attempt to protect their supplies from pirates. Together they form a military organization called the League of Conquerers.
Gnomes living near the Blood Kingdom turn to making pacts with devils for protection. They officially form Neimheim shortly after.
With the majority of dragon-kind united, the Dragon Empire begins to expand east of the Dragoncoil Mountains.
The Order of the Griffon Knights is created by House Stross in order to protect the Crossroads and Zobeck.
The Dragon Empire comes into conflict with Nilfgaard during its expansion and officially starts the One Hundred Year War.
The current King Lucious is slain during the One Hundred Year War. Without an heir to the throne to lead them, Nilfgaard breaks and many of its cities fall under draconic rule.
The Dragon Empire pushes its forces into the Southlands. The Wind Lords and Nuria manage to push their forces back so they instead focus their forces on Ishadia.
Rebellions begin popping up all over Novigrad against the draconic rule of the Dragon Empire.
The Dragon Empire is pushed back out of Novigrad and the Southlands marking the end of the One Hundred Year war.
All hopes for Nilfgaard to return to its former glory are lost as the seven most powerful cities begin to fight one another in an attempt to grab power.
Many of the nomadic tribes of the Rothenian Plains are united and become known as the Khazzaki.
A small revolution takes place within the city of Zobeck. With the help of many kobolds, its citizens successfully usurp House Stross and gain their freedom and independence. They become known as the Free City of Zobeck.
The Blood Kingdom, Neimheim, and the Ghoul Imperium officially form an alliance.
The Dark Kingdoms begin their invasion of the Electoral Kingdom of Krakova.
The Dark Kingdoms invade the capital of Krakova. The king is slain and city falls into rule under the Blood Kingdom.
Orlais takes in refugees from Krakova. They set up large refugee camps around their cities. These camps remain even to the current day.
The ex-queen of Krakova forms a rebellion and begins fighting the Blood Kingdom.
The dwarven reavers establish The Wolfmark and begin open conflict with the Blood Kingdom.
The Ashen King, a devil, spreads Heartfire Disease throughout the slums of the city. He incites a rebellion against the upper class of the city and soon after attempts to murge the Free City of Zobeck with Muspelheim and make it a bridge between both worlds. However with the combined forces of the Order of the Undying Sun, the city guard, ordinary citizens, and a small group of unlikely heroes; the Ashen King was slain and the city was saved.
Salister Kane, a devil disguised as a circus ring leader, uses the money he collected from selling the rights of his circus away to buy an abandoned church within the kobold ghetto of Zobeck. Here he forms the Church of Mutual Benefaction, an organization that deals in the collection and distribution of goods; especially goods such as art, artifacts, rare materials, and magic items. This organization provides work to adventurers willing to procure these items and provides these very items for sale to anyone with enough coin.
With the Church of Mutual Benefaction spreading its reaches all throughout the main continent of Midgard, Salister Kane decides to turn his attention to the seas. A branch of the Church called the "Mutual Benefaction Trading Company" is created to extend its influence into the Ocean Expanse and begins to deal in the business of transporting others' goods as well as the Church's main form of business. It is during this time the MBTC decides to become one of many financial backers for the League of Conquerers to ensure its cargo is protected from pirates.
