This is my first ever Spooktober, and after some consideration, I decided that the best approach would be to explore some excerpts from my own novel, which is the reason why I'm on world anvil in the first place.

The thing is... I'm still rewriting, and rewriting the first chapter, (version number 65 I think now!! (I kid, it's more like version 3, but it feels like 65)) and a lot of these excerpts that I will be writing for Spooktober exist purely in my brain, with no material physically existing before or after it.

That being said, I do have a very good concept of where they would appear chronologically in the book, and so, to help, despite perhaps you may never meet some of the same characters again by the nature of my plan, you might gain some understanding of the feel of my novel: An Object of Desire

As a little blurb, the story takes place in the country of Favont, where slavery is legal, and an important part of the economy. Magan, a slave, is sold by his master and mistress, Stobal and Laniesti Hutz. After some time in varying slave compounds, he is brought for Princess Listelle. Now working at the royal court, it's not long before he realises he has to exorcise some demons, namely Aeryn DeSteffen, who determined to help make amends, attempts to aide him in finding his family. Meanwhile, Mala, a harem slave from the Temple of Brevus, struggles with her new employer, eventually escaping, and Rance, a butler, witnesses some action by the state while boarding a tram.
