Erdan (Er-Dan)
Erdan is the God of Honour, Oaths, and Tradition. Most commonly associated with guiding the souls of those recently deceased to the afterlife, Erdan is the god who's followers keep ancient traditions alive. They are tasked with commiting traditional practices to memory and witnessing the swearing of oaths, all of which are said to be heard by Erdan whether sworn in front of one of his devotees or not. Erdan's purpose spans beyond that of honouring the dead however; weddings, coronations, the swearing of oaths and renewing of vows all fall under his jurisdiction. The most solemn oath one can swear is upon Erdan himself, these oaths are not to be taken lightly as it is believed that Erdan hears all such oaths and vows and those who would break an oath sworn on the god of honour are punished harshly; shunned by society they are recognised as oathbreakers until such a time as they atone for their past sins and redeem themselves. Death is an important part of the clergy of Erdan and making sure that those who perish are properly buried is their top priority. In times of war the clerics of Erdan actively take part in the conflict, keeping to their sworn oaths to protect their homes, although even in wartime the followers of Erdan will honour those they kill with proper burials; understanding that they were made to fight and kill each other out of necessity not hatred. Necromancers and those who would disturb the dead in their eternal slumber are reviled by devotees of the grey god, there is nothing more abhorrent to a follower of Erdan than using foul necromantic energies to twist long deceased souls to enact selfish purposes and for that reason clerics and paladins of Erdan swear to destroy necromancers and return their undead thralls to the ground where they belong.
