Aviar

Aviar

Aviar are half Aarakocra and half human. They look like their humanoid parents but with a large pair of avian wings and scute covered hands and feet that end in small talons like a bird's. Aviar are equally as at home in rural mountain climates as they are in bustling cities. All an Aviar needs to be happy is to be able to spread their wings and take to the skies. They can be found either in Erimia living in small mountain top colonies or in the northern territories of the Empire of Draugheim of Eastern Midasfjall where, thanks to the dual nature of an Aviar's parentage, they often easily find a place within imperial society. The social nature and common appearance of their humanoid parentage combined with the Aarakocra wings they inherit from their avian parent make Aviar efficient messengers, deliverymen, or even scouts for an army. The wealthiest merchants will almost always have a trusted Aviar on their staff. When not flying through the skies, Aviar like to gather where there is merriment and add to the social clamour with wonderfully sung songs of their youth or travel. The averege Aviar's voice is pleasant and most can sing well with little practice.

Flight - Because of your wings, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can’t use this flying speed if you’re wearing medium or heavy armor.
Talons - You have talons that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength or Dexterity modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Skill Versatility - Thanks to your heritage you have picked up some skills during your upbringing. Choose one Skill to become proficient in. Your choice should reflect your upbringing. For example, if you were raised in a town or city, you might choose Persuasion as a skill. Whereas if you were born in a small mountain peak colony, you might choose Survival as a skill.
Aviar have humanoid bodies with large avian wings and hands and feet that end in small talons that are covered in birdlike scales. Their facial features are similar to a humans but are often sharper and more angular with piercing yellow or orange eyes that are slightly larger than a human's typically would be. Their hair is humanlike but grows in patterns that resemble feathers and is the same colour as the wings on their back. Aviar tend to be quite slim and agile but some can grow to be strong, just as humans can vary in their body types.
