Saron and Tari

Saron and Tari are patron spirits of the Aldeata, mystic memorials to the couple that founded the town. Patron spirits aren’t the ghosts of the people they personify, but instead are created and sustained by the spiritual energy of the town and given form by the townsfolk’s memories and impressions of Saron and Tari. Saron personifies the trader, granting the town her blessing of charm and prosperity. Tari personifies the healer, granting health and fertility. They’re normally passive, anchored to wooden statues of the founders that are kept in a shrine in the temple. However, several times in Aldeata’s history, they’ve helped townsfolk in need, appearing unexpectedly to help find someone missing and in danger, to foretell a future event, or shield the innocent from spiritual damage. The people of the town nurture their patron spirits by enacting weekly rituals where they sacrifice small bits of blood or time or belongings. Twice a year, a day before each equinox, the residents carry the statues by hand through the town. The parade past each house and around the boundary to establish the spiritual territory of the town and for its patrons.
