Orc

Orcs live in The Scorch, a barren desert where the Gods first lived. They live in a very secluded nation where helping the community is the greatest honor. Orcs very rarely utilize magic since the Weave is barely holding on in the Scorch. While in orcish territory, any magic is strongly discouraged for this reason. Because of their lack of reliance on magic to solve issues, many consider orcs as brutish. In fact, orcs are quite gentle and help uplift those around them. Key to orc tradition is the belief in community with nature. As such, they are organized around the Maginus Artin, a leader who is appointed by a council to help organize the disparate needs of the tribes. Orcs are one of the least pious groups due to their lack of connection to the Weave. Some do engage in ancestor worship, since the lack of the Weave means that dead ancestors will often stay longer in this plane than other groups. Beyond that though, orcs only enter into religions when they leave the Scorch, and rarely at that. Orcs wear clothing that obscures most of their body in order to keep safe from the sandstorms that ravage the Scorch. The cloth also comes with the ability to camouflage themselves in the dunes, perfectly hiding them from watching eyes. Homori that stumble into the Scorch are welcomed into their way of life, often surprised by the hospitality of their companions. To orcs, the fact that the newcomer is not a ‘true’ orc is immaterial. To be an orc is to be in commune with those around you, regardless of genetic parentage.

Ideals

Courtship Ideals

Orcish courtship tends to be an ancestral process. The ancestors (if available) of the two individuals first discuss their compatibility before giving their blessing. Orcs move from dating to domestic partnership over the course of about 4 months and marry within 2 years. Divorce is rare, and the surrounding events usually precede an exiled member. If there are not ancestors present (such as non-orcs), the dating process is a  bit slower, moving in at 1 year and marrying around 3.

Relationship Ideals

Orcs tend to fall into monogamous relationships. They organize their tribes around family trees

Major organizations

The Artin is a council of orcs selected to help organize the disparate needs of the tribes.
