GD-12: Exchange of Patina
General Summary
Pulling into port, the group finds a crowd of people at the harbour front looking at their find. Before basking in the glory, a woman demands an audience with the captain and through negotiation purchases the Enlarged Siren for a fee of doubloons and arcane gifts.
She gives the name Granite to the crew, with her appearing to be a native, except unlike them she is covered in gold and copper jewellery as well as a crimson cloak, the copper jewellery has seemingly oxidized leaving turquoise stains upon her skin.
She made glyphs on their sloop and through teleportation magic like that of the ancient Rlunchim people she caused the boat and siren to relocate into a nearby ruin she had set up shop in.
She gave insightful knowledge to Blaze and Rook both about this location and the process of turning the Mana Kidney into Mana Crystal. However the crystal that was made had some nasty impurities, now with the crushed crystals in hand they were turned into vials of liquid for ease of consumption whenever the situation might arise.
Each candidate who was willing to undergo the rituals was given the ability to breathe underwater, however Olivia was denied this service for unspecified reasons.
Those who received this boon were Hurali, Blaze, Rook, Bill, Miranda, Skipper, Berit, and Lucien. While Olivia was denied, as Eleanor, Lyra, Kauz, and Kolk opted out of receiving the modification.
Investigating around the ruin they found that this was the geothermal energy creation site used by the long-gone inhabitants of the archipelago. They also found multiple bodies displayed on pikes outside the entranceway, something done by Granite for unspecified reasons.
Granite then requested them to venture to the back islands to enter a factory where the mechanical guardians of the archipelago were made, with the intent of placing a modified token into the console to shut down the system. The modified token represents the winter one with an octopus, however instead of blue, it is pitch black and small glyphs are lining the edges of the token. She promises a high reward in exchange for this feat.
The ship is now covered in glyphs to both relocate it to the gate under the sea, and to allow it to float some of the crew able to breathe underwater are sent out to return the ship to Shauk Ranket.
The rest of the crew is ready to depart and carry the remaining supplies that can’t afford to be drowned during the teleportation of the ship.
