Yurman'al'seshtoras

Yurman'al'seshtoras, or known more colloquially, the Ever Thirsting Tree of Soul and Life, is a divine tree composed of ancient energies, the souls and collective pieces of many thousands gathered over centuries of worship. A key component of the Yarawath faith, the tree is the center of the strange, somewhat de-centralized religion that many of the Cethron's splintered people worship. Making pilgrimages there and offering services, worship, and strangest of all, parts of their very soul and being it seems to merge with the tree, to become more thana just themselves but to take in as well into them a part of their god.    The tree is massive and ancient, a black cracked bark skin winding up to thin, sickly branches with pure white as snow leaves that when they descend, the world will weap. They were noted to fall right before the attack upon Setrak. The bark itself as hard and sharp as stone is appears, myth saying that one who takes the life of another of pure evil would grant that shard of bark the power of God and Hell to impart upon a target of ones choice. It is an esoteric, strange, and almost eldritch being that seems to exist in reality and yet be capable of controlling its own corporeal nature. It appears to have memetic control over its understanding and knowledge that is gain about it, able to work through the minds and spirits of beings and alter them. Despite this, it is a dormant god. It rarely ever speaks, and never has one entered fully into the tree.   For the tree is massive, towering even above the height of the Father Tree of the long past years. Yet this time the see seemingly grew in the deep, hidden recesses of the Old God's Rage mountain range, deep underground through a vast twisting cavern network that to those not welcome would seem infinite, unknowable, and unwinding. Strange whispers would mock them, keep them awake, drive them mad, and drive them out. Yet for those welcomed, it seems a short trip, unreasonably so as if the stone shifting, configuring, altering in ways that matter does not normally function, the whispers welcoming, the presence eldritch, yet comforting.   Coated in a seeming draping mass of gore and blood webbing constantly, the tree itself is rather unpleasant and almost psychologically painful to approach for all but those who are willing to embark upon a sacrifice to the tree. Internal organs hang from the tree like fruit from an in season apple tree, draping down and coating the surface beneath. So suffused is this linkage that it has grown webbing, its own cardiovascular system that seems to beat like the tree itself has a heart buried deep within itself.   For Yurman'al'seshtoras is something unlike what is able to be found elsewhere amongst the Material Plane of Meria. It is both all and none, real and false, thirsting and sated. It is the Ever Thirsting Tree of Soul and Life, and it guides the ones it chooses. It profers power, influence and strength to those it sees fit. Its goal is unknown, its purpose as well unknown, yet it is known that is powerful. A mighty being of strength, glory, and mercy, and potentially another growing threat against the grip of Harbinger upon the realm of Meria.

Purpose / Function

Yurman'al'seshtoras appears to have no major usage outside of the religious importance it holds for a great many Cethron and especially the Yarawathi. It is worshipped for the divine and powerful being that it is believed to be by them, offering it flesh, blood, prayers, tears, and most of all, the divine coupling between a willing sacrifice and the tree itself, for each party imparts upon the other a fragment of themselves. For Cethron, they almost all bear a unique aspect known as the Cethron Spark, an innate magical ability that enables them to do things they otherwise would not be able to do.

Defenses

Yurman'al'seshtoras is capable of self defense as it has demonstrated from afar of many instances, preventing its discovery from outside forces, foiling investigations, altering their outcomes, etc. It seems to be very capable at obscuring its presence.

History

After the War of Consolidation and the conquest of the Material Plane by Harbinger and his now growing and strengthening Empire, the Cethron were a shattered and broken people. Years, decades, centuries would pass as they wandered, before a rumor began to spread. A remnant of their past remained. A descendant of the great Father Tree. Grown anew, deep beneath the earth in a massive cavern. And so a party was sent out between various Cethron factions and religious sects. They searched and indeed, they found the Yurman'al'seshtoras. The Ever Thirsting Tree of Soul and Life. The tree was simply, there, as if having waited for them for all this time. It seemed special, it seemed unique, it seemed... otherwordly.    Immediately word was sent far and wide via careful, quiet messages that a new tree had been located, and it was the descendant of their former source of reverance and worship. Some believed it not, their tribes and sects looking away and abandoning the Ever Thirsting Tree of Soul and Life, believing it a sham, a farse, even maybe a demonic ploy to lure in the faithful and corrupt them. Yet many more readily made way to the Old God's Rage, to that deep mountainous cavern to pay the first of many respects. And their belief was confirmed as there it lie. Group after group, coming to the tree and offering prayer, sacrifice, and even death. In a small amount of time a once shattered people, now become somewhat unified again under the shadow of religion as texts and dictations, beliefs and values were ignited once more and created and spread amongst the believers.    Their people had not died. They had not been reborn, for under the gore ridden brances of the Ever Thirsting Tree of Soul and Life, they had been reborn.
