Inquisitor Commander Tyra Ortin

Tyra Ortin, like many and nearly all Inquisitors of her station, have had her life thoroughly documented, analyzed, and combed through. She was born in the far eastern Edrian city of Seagaze to a pair of parents that were very wealthy. Married through an arranged, political union that doubled as a business venture, Ortin's mother Lyra married her father Gerard. Both of their individual families had unique and competing fishing, shipping, deep sea exploration, and ocean-faring security businesses that had butted heads for generations. Instead of continuing this legacy of competition the leaders of the families decided to marry together the next leaders of their clans.   As such, Tyra, much like one of her pupils in the far future would be born into a life of luxury and nigh nobility. Indeed, despite this she was not treated with the respect a princess would expect. Her father was a harsh, brutal taskmaster, expecting, no demanding that his first born daughter and heiress be capable of not only running their business, but being able to do the job herself. So Tyra worked the docks, the ships on the open seas, and the warehouses. Veteran of sailing the Ionthar and Golden Oceans as well as the various small seas and bodies of open water that the world of Meria sports, she became traveled, and her ravenous hunger for knowledge was piqued.   Discovering their daughter, while a physically hardy and athletic youth could be a great businesswoman, they saw in her the potential to serve the Empire in a greater capacity, as an inquisitor. After some brief conversations with recruitment parties, and some preliminary testing, Tyra was accepted into the Vrellman Inquisitorial Academy with flying colors.   From there, she would have a decorated and storied student path inside the Academy. Physically hardened beyond her initial competition and sharpened intellectually to at least match them, she quickly outpaced in the beginning her class, rising sharply to the top of it.   Yet it was not easy forever. Soon the infamous 'Vrellman Fatigue' fell upon all who enter. The home sickness, the fear of death in their next lesson or field exercise. It weighed upon all, some heavier than most, yet it was great upon Tyra. Nearly dropping out and returning to her family in both shame at having ceased before achieving true greatness, but honor at having even been admitted and taught by some of the greatest scholars and academics of her age, she perservered.   Graduating near the very top of her class, Tyra Ortin would go on to begin her Inquisition career as all do, and progress as most due, yet her tenure as an Inquisitor Sergeant would see her be given the attache role along with anothe senior attache to the Inquisitor Primus himself. This honored role was given to her due to her perceived value and potential, and the insight and skill she gleaned from this is seeming invaluable, as she proceeded to shoot up in the ranks of the Inquisition, rising to the ultimate standard rank of Inquisitor Commander in a near record time.

Tyra was educated privately in her younger childhood and in her early teenage years she was educated at the Inquisitorial Academy of Vrellman. Being taught in all manner of things from advanced alchemy to history to the art of blade fighting as all her fellow students were, she was educated in nearly any and everything an Inquisitor would need to survive nearly every scenario.

As an Inquisitor, the operation that would ultimately make the case for her promotion to Inquisitor Commander would be that of the foiling, counter attack, and destruction of a depraved Banite cult that had been on a rampage for years. Coordinating with her skilled retinue and fellow Inquisitors she oversaw an expert plot to bait the cult out of hiding into a kill zone where all of its most valuable leadership were slaughtered to a man, including the leader.

Tyra's partner as a Lesser Inquisitor was brutally beaten and executed in front of her. The two had been good friends, and they gave her the scar that now marks her face. The Wrath that did it to her was hunted down and exterminated to a man, yet Tyra never can let go of her perceived failure of Perius and allowing him to die.

Tyra specializes in general tactic warfare, espionage, and diplomacy. She is widely considered the ideal image of 'the Inquisitor's Inquisitor' for her almost boring demeanor and suite of skills. That is not to say she is average, for Tyra Ortin bears an impressive record of success when it comes to capturing, foiling, or destroying the enemies of His Empire.

While not overtly cruel, Inquisitor Commander Ortin does not brook any issue with the wholesale slaughter of the unclean, the weak, or those in the wrong place at the wrong time if it gets what she wants. She does not seek unnecessary bloodshed but she understands that to fail, is to in time brook shame, humiliation, and death. She bears a bit of a 'the strong survive, the weak bend the knee or die' philosophy, but is not above or naive to the potential of avoiding bloodshed and conflict.   Harin has stated that some pivotal moments of operations that Tyra has solved bloodlessely had taught him important things about himself and helped shape him for how he is as an Inquisitor.
