Dwarf
The dwarves are one of the oldest species recorded in Merhendiv. They originated from the land of Valeknaar but were slowly driven away by the lack of resources and all the dangers roaming the scorched earth. While they are often reffered to as "small men", they never had anything to do with any humans. In fact, it has been theorized by the Kann scientists that they once shared a common ancestor with the trolls.
The species almost went extinct several times due to their violent culture, so their Sages have decided that no dwarf should be killed anymore, instead they would become filthies.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The dwarves are a species of creatures having looks quite similar to humans, smaller yet somehow heavier, and with a lot more facial hair. Studies have shown an extraordinary strong skeletal and muscular structure which is probably due to the way they dig mines and fight horrible monsters on their native land.

Social Structure
The dwarves are governed by a King, who has almost the full power. The only ones above him are the Sages, who have, in dwarf culture, the reputation of being immortals imbued with divine power, and charged with the mission of preserving the species from extinction.
Even though they have supposedly been unified millenia ago by the first king, they retained their clanic nature. The king governs all, but each of them have their own chief to defend their interests. The most influential clan is of course the king's.
Every dishonored dwarf becomes a filthy, a slave whose sole reason of existing is preventing the extinction of the specie.
