Led by the gnome Marion Wishbacker, a priest of Politia, the Wishbacker revolts took place after years of frustration with the Vakwari (and Karasi) government's inability to help its people.

Wishbacker and his followers lynched several Bannercrushers - a local gang that had terrorized the populace and that the city guard was either unable or unwilling to stop - and when the captain of the guard tried to intervene, a bystander struck out and killed him.

The ensuing riot ended with Wishbacker being stabbed and killed, and 75 other people killed in the chaos.

An explosion in Deshal, where the riots started, leveled a good portion of the district as well.

The city guard eventually managed to squash the unrest, but the Bannercrushers, nor Wishbacker's followers, nor the citizens, have forgotten or forgiven one another.
