Session 47 - "Tyrant Lizard King" Report

Before the Fate-Steppers enter into the kobold's cavern, Jacob Sterling takes a moment to protect both Olena and Ambrose Praxidice with an intellect fortress enchantment, and Thais Argyri sets herself up with a spirit shroud.

Ambrose casts false life on himself, and H011-3 casts mage armor. Thais takes one final moment to cast sanctuary on Ambrose, and then they forge ahead.

Inside the cave, there are two levels: where the party enters, and several small kobolds are moving rocks and boulders, clearing a space in the middle. Then up above are the kobolds that the party has come to identify as clerics to the god Skatr... and the Tyrant's kobold champion.

To the right of the party on the second level, the citizens (including Lucilla Amalthea) sit huddled at the feet of a fearsome draconid statue, standing on two legs and wearing a crown.

The battle is fiercely fought, and Thais confronts the champion of her former master, nearly dropping herself in the conflict. But finally the conflict is won, and Lucilla is reunited with her nephew, as well as the other civilians freed.

Thais takes hold of the bracers of the champion, crushing them with her own blade to ensure they can never be worn again, while Ambrose inspects the altar.

There are plenty of treasures here, taken from other prisoners of the kobolds over who knows how long - Ambrose is able to count up thirty gold pieces and one hundred and one silver pieces, as well as a burlap sack with a stoppered clay bottle, a silver ring with a bright symbol of a dove and carnation, and cloth-of-gold vestments. The final thing he finds is an ornate orrery with gemstone planets, which are all carefully stowed away.

The party and the citizens of Valorum leave the cavern and dead kobolds, turning towards the city and home (for some of them)...
