As Meras's society starts to stabilize, the people find they have to time to not just survive but learn about their new surroundings. They start with the tree they owe their fortune to. Through careful study, mages and druids determine a passive magic quality that filters the air of harmful Mist.
In an attempt to give more useable ground to the village, druids attempt to plant seeds from the tree outside the village walls. Not all the seeds take root, but it gives a little more space for Meras to expand.
