Warlocks
- One who has made a pact with a spirit.
Either part can initiate contact. Both state what they want; if the terms are agreeable, the pact is formed. The mortal half gains magic power, generally something pertaining to the spirit they pact with. The spirit becomes part of the mortal, coexisting with each other until their desires have been fulfilled. They can contact each other via dreams. - Pacts can last:
1. Indefinitely - the terms of the pact are something general or have no specific end criteria, or both parties are happy with each other's presence.
2. End mutually - the terms of the pact are specific, and once fulfilled the mortal and spirit can part.
3. End violently - the pact can't be completed or is failed in some way. This can be due to something tangible (something makes the goal impossible to complete) or intangible (one half of the pact loses hope/falls into despair/gives up). The warlock's powers destabilize. They might be driven mad or turned into a monster; the result of a failed pact are not pretty. - Hexblades - the spirit that the mortal binds with inhabits a tool (often something symbolic) and can be transformed into a weapon by the warlock.
