Flesh-Woven
"In a world full of little gods, the greatest miracle of all is being able to die next to you."The average Memdian is not born of prayer, alchemy, or clockwork - but of two parents, of a culture, of a community. There's many ways to be Flesh-Woven, a variety of ethnicities, races, and nationalities to call one's own. To be man is not a damnation to mediocrity - for to live as a Memdian is the most interesting experience one will ever have. Aniadic and Illiac tales tell of gods forming the first Memdians out of clay and wishes, while Astriadicism claims that our souls were plucked out of the stars and put into bodies made of dragon's teeth. Duonomists will say we are all pieces of a shattered god of creation, while Nagaists would be one to argue that there's no difference between those woven of flesh and those woven from Essence. Religions aside, when you get down to the science of it, the cycle of life and death and self-determinism is what makes the Flesh-Woven unique from the Essence-Woven . They are born, not made, and from that first breath they are free to do with that limited time whatever they see fit. It's a blessing and a curse, that freedom, but without it, the Tapestry would be very boring, now wouldn't it?
Basic Information
Anatomy
Imagine your typical human, all the varieties and eccentricities that come within. Now add the possibilty of pointed ears, wings, great height and strength, the ability to breathe underwater, commune with the dead. Technically , the Flesh-Woven constitutes all living beings that reproduce and bleed red blood, but when colloquially talking about the Flesh-Woven, it is assumed you are speaking of the sapient humanoid variety.
The Blood
The creator of life, the vessel in which all essence flows through the body. It is energy both kinetic and how it flows and potential in how it can be used. If you are a religious man, it can be quite literally be the nectar of the Gods. The Flesh-Woven bleed red, full of cells and plasma and everything to keep an organism moving and functional. Memdians use their blood- their energy - to cast spells much in the way that you use yours to move, breathe, think, live. It fuels the muscles, the brain and spirit in total sync to enforce one's desires upon the tapestry. The Gift of the Thread
See Also: Elemental Threads Different cultures have different names for it, but every Memdian is born in tune with the magic around them. Influenced by the elemental affinities of their parents, the place where they were born, and what they are exposed to in their first year of life, a Memdian's body will attune to one particular kind of magic, called a Thread. While greatly impacting what kinds of spells one will take easier too, its similiar to one's blood type - it's relevance in the day to day varies wildly on culture and the kind of situation you're in.Genetics and Reproduction
Go ask a trusted adult, this is meant to be anthropological.
Generally, any humanoid Memdian can reproduce with a Flesh-Woven - no matter how incompatible it may seem. Even the Essence-Woven can reproduce with them with a little magical trickery, and no study has shown any real issue between the interbreeding between any of the other races and subspecies. Which race's traits end up getting passed down is still unknown as of time of writing, seeing as this field of genetics is still in it's infancy - but it is known that traits such as water breathing, wings, and protective scale growth seem to be dominant traits.
