Drakes

Among the gods the first of the dragons, Asgorath emerged, clashing with the Primordials to bring them down and returning the power over the Prime Material plane to the Deities. In a great battle, Asgorath fell, and from the remains of their body where born Bahamut and Tiamat, and through them the mighty race of Dragons were born.

As natural-born sorcerers, dragons wield great power, and most powerful of them became the creators of lesser draconic races. Together, humanoids group both true dragons and their creations as drakes, though dragons themselves might take some offense to that.
