Sarel
The Guiding Star Sarel of Starlit Grove
According to legends, Sarel is a Ki-rin that blesses the lands near Kin Akaru with its holy presence. Once served by a group of monks, Sarel now lives on the ruins of the monastery where it once shared their wisdom to mortals worthy of their insight.
This ancient being has seen a rise and fall of civilizations and silently guards the land it inhabits, with pools of sweet water as their window to their realm. Hidden in the Starlit Grove, the ki-rin has been quiet for centuries. But maybe it is time to have closer contact with selected mortals, that are able to prove their worth to them.
In-game, Sarel has taken interest of resent restlessness in Kin Akaru, and has promised their aid to young Lysaer Embercloak, to solve mystery behind Shakseh Zhosiss, messenger from mysterious lands of Ashlarr.
Physical Description
Body Features
Most commonly, Sarel avoids mortals and thus most of them are unaware of their true physical form. Instead, Sarel appears as mist or as pair of two golden orbs on the pool water or floating in the air, when the physical form is required. The creature doesn't seem to appear with any regocnizable gender.
The true formSarel has a distinct, white-gold scales, that radiates a bright, heavenly glow. Their mane shines in shades of gold and silver, and eyes glitter like two golden orbs. As the embodiment of good, their presence is striking and enough to make a mortal fall on to their knees from their otherworldly beauty.
Their golden hooves are elegant, and their forehead is adorned with pearly white, twisting horn. Scales on their stomach have almost a holographic quality, though their colour tints on the blue side of the colour spectrum. By their build, they mostly resemble a stag with a coat of scales, short tail with long hairs, almost touching their ankles. Hair covers their jawline that gathers as a more extended goatee on the chin.
Special abilities
Like all Ki-rin, Sarel is capable with various impressive magics, though most of them are defensive or healing in nature. They are also capable of seeing through the freshwater around their lair. They are capable of flight and hovering in the air.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
For the time being, Sarel's history is covered in a veil of mystery. They describe themselves as being born from a word of their creator and have stayed as the guardian of Starlit Grove for a significant period of time. They seem to have been served or worshipped by some type of ancient monastery, that ones were part of the grove, but has now been lost by time.
Intellectual Characteristics
Sarel is a wise and solitary creature, that often simply observes the world around it, in silence. They are intelligent, yet very different in perspective to a typical, mortal humanoid. They are an avatar of goodness and kindness, and thus it is rare to provoke them in violent or otherwise aggressive action. They seem to have the ability for disapproving, though, which mainly manifests as a frown. In need, they are very capable guardian of those in need.
Social
Family Ties
Sarel displays an endeared, and loving relationship towards their Creator believed to be the goddess Eldath, though they work very independently. This does seem like a purposeful choice on the side of the divine. Occasionally Sarel can be seen speaking to her, acting in ways that make it seem there is an actual concersation going on, yet only Sarel's part may be observed.
Hobbies & Pets
Despite their avoidance with humanoid creatures, Sarel enjoys the company of magical and mundane beasts. He shares his lair with a tressym and a piebald pegasus that seem to keep them company. Having a company of creatures and aiding them seems to make them content.
Sarel also enjoys watching life around their lair, but often does this through waters surrounding the lair. Occasionally something gets their interest, and through their animal companions, dreams and magic, they might try to aid mortals on their daily lives.
Speech
Sarel mostly communicate telepathically, though the ideas and things they convey primarily feel quite similar to speaking with a creature that uses voice and sound to tell their intentions. However, due to their divine nature, some of their ideas are given in the form of abstract thoughts and pictures.
As ageless non-humanoid, some of Sarel's thoughts can feel strange and foreign, and their outlook might feel even bizarre. Sarel is a compassionate and even humoristic creature but communicates with a certain wariness and can get quite aloof in some topics.
