Raynald’s Reach and the Freeport Territory

Situated at the edge of the burning sands and the boiling tide, Raynald’s Reach is a circular stone fortress guarding the vibrant, chaotic hub of Freeport—a vital coastal city nestled along the eastern edge of the Disputed Lands. Once a forgotten outpost, the Reach now stands as the primary bastion of order in a region awash with trade, refugees, and crusaders.

To enter the Reach, one must first pass through Baelor’s Sacrifice, a fortified gate-town known for its narrow streets, dusty markets, and the imposing New Citadel, a grand structure of white stone where scribes, maesters, and missionaries of the Faith reside in uneasy harmony.

Freeport itself teems with life and opportunity. Refugees from war-torn Myr and Tyrosh swell its alleys, while a minority class of Westerosi lords, knights, and merchants oversee commerce and justice. The Council of Magistrates—a tangled alliance of lords, paladins, scholars, and mercantile powers—rules in the absence of Prince Alexander Bracken, Lord Viceroy of the Territory and heir to the Iron Throne.

Many paladins seeking glory and honor must stop in Freeport and the New Citadel before making the perilous journey northward to Darkbridge and the New Vale—a hardened land of exiled Valesmen who refuse the Iron Throne’s dominion. Tensions remain high between the Crown and these defiant mountain lords, but fragile power-sharing agreements brokered by the Faith of the Seven have so far preserved communication and ensured a steady flow of pilgrims and warriors between the two kingdoms.

Heavily militarized and devout, the Reach sees thousands of crusaders pass through its dusty roads and harbor camps, many drawn by visions, vengeance, or holy duty. The Reach is more than a fortress—it is a crucible of faith, trade, and conquest at the edge of an empire’s reach.
