Fairwind
The village of Fairwind is a peaceful place of about 500 people. It is mainly populated by half-elves and humans, though a few families of gnomes and halflings also inhabit the area. The homesteads are raised huts made from palms from the coast and bamboo from near the mountains. The village is arranged in a circular fashion with residential on the outer ring, and merchants and craftsmen on the inner ring. At the center lies a large circular white building made of solid stone that is not from this land. This large structure is where the chieftain resides and all village needs are discussed. On the eastern coast of the village is an elaborate dock, also made from the mysterious white stone, where a boat resides that can hold up to 10 people at a time. This boat is the only means the people of Fairwind have to reach the main island of Shimmerwind.
When villagers come of age, they are sent to find their way in the world. Their goals are theirs alone to know. They are given their path to follow through one of many means. Some say they received visions, while others spot strange creatures in the forests beckoning them to follow. Most come back, months or years later, with stories to tell or scars to show from their adventure. Others send word back of their explorations from around their nation, including notes to the chieftain to help map the land beyond the mountains. Many are never heard from again.
