Radia Woods
The Shimmering Isle is largely covered in forest, known as Radia Woods. The trees growing here are thick, lush, and always covered in full foliage despite the seasons. Imbued with the strong magic present in the Shimmering Isle, the area is prone to wild events and mysterious happenings making the woods dangerous to venture into without proper preparation.
Localized Phenomena
The ambient magic of the area often imbues the various plants here, giving them a vague form of sentient life that allows them to move as an animal would to ensnare and even hunt it's prey. Rumours abound in the local student society of a sentient race of plant people residing in the woods.
The magic here can also affect animals, occasaionally granting them greater intelligence or the ability to speak, or more rarely mutating them into grotesque monstrosities or fantastical creatures.
The deeper into the woods one ventures, the more unreliable their casting becomes as the magic gets more and more difficult to control and more prone to surges of wild magic.
