Scorpion Class Utility Vehicle
The Scorpion class is a space construction vehicle named for its distinctive shape featuring front grippers and an extensible utility arm. In its longer range IP variant, it is popular among small crews intending to explore the Megastructure.
Propulsion
The standard Scorpion class is only intended for orbital utility and construction work and only features maneuvering thrusters, however these are very powerful relative to the size of the vehicle to allow it to function as a tug moving large masses. The Scorpion-IP (interplanetary) variant reduces the power and fuel reserves of the maneuvering thrusters and slightly lengthens the primary hull to integrate an interplanetary-class (c-) warp drive and expanded crew accommodation.
Additional & auxiliary systems
For its primary purpose as an utility vehicle, the Scorpion class is outfitted with two gravitic grippers for manipulating objects, as well as a top-mounted modular utility arm which can be outfitted with various tools. On ships outfitted for Megastructure exploration, the grippers are often removed and replaced with weapons.
