EAPR

The Electromagnetically Accelerated Plasma Rifle (EAPR) and the upgraded "rugged" variant (rEAPR) are weapons used primarily by Blackwell Security.   The EAPR is an advanced gauss rifle which fires heavy magnetized rounds with a high temperature plasma sheath at extreme velocities. The high kinetic energy combined with the high temperature charged plasma gives the rounds high damage against both armor and energy shields, and makes them utterly devastating for unprotected targets. The original EAPR was shown to have reliability issues when used in different environmental conditions, leading to the development of the rEAPR variant featuring upgraded thermal control and sealing systems at the cost of increased mass and slightly reduced maximum velocity. Most Blackwell teams currently use the upgraded variant.   Most Blackwell teams do not carry these weapons, as their damage potential makes them too dangerous to use in many settings. They are primarily used by expedition teams and as a deterrent.   While the not publically available, some EAPRs have found their way onto black markets. Improper use has led to the destruction of several modules of The Tubes in one incident, leading to most parts of Gate Town (with the notable exclusion of those affiliated with Offworld Hydrocarbons) banning the weapons.
