The War of Mer Succession

The War of Mer Succession began in the year 2369 SA and concluded in the year 51 TA, though it had been brewing for far longer than the fifty years it was fought.
The conflict itself began between the so-called "minor races" of the Rozani Republic, hereby referred to as the "anti-Mer" faction and the "major races" of the Republic, hereby referred to as the "pro-Mer" faction.
Despite its dramatic origins with a fight at the senate house, the minor races, consisting of the Draconic Peoples (including Lizardfolk, Goliaths and Orcs), the Helvenic Peoples (including some halflings, Dwarves and Gnomes) and the Infernals (consisting, as far as known, only of Tieflings), were mostly reasonable until the attempted appointment of a divisive, discriminatory candidate for consulship (the leading office at the time) by the major races, which consisted of humans, elves, firbolgs, also of halflings, Half-Elves and Vedalken.
Naturally, this divisive candidate required a vote won by such a slim margin that it could barely be called democracy. The client states of the south cried out for justice, a recount, another election, though their cries fell on deaf ears from the arbiters of the vote, the Paladins of Dwindal, for once the votes were cast and counted there could be no recount. It was sanctified in Rozani law after all and why should they change it now?
And so it came to pass that senators of both factions died on the steps of the senate house and fled to their respective kingdoms to marshal their forces. The Rozani claimed the better of the fighting for nearly twenty years. advancing almost to the gates of Fellhammer, occupying Inferna Aeterna, overrunning the city of Beograd, the now sunken cities of Honwald and Kerryglen and advancing to the gates of Langlevon with blades and siege tools ready to fell her weak walls.
All seemed lost until, in one last effort, the resolve of the Draconic peoples, the magical cunning of the Infernals and the technological mastery of the Helvenic Dominion united in one final counter-assault, known to this day as "The Tears of the Rozani." Over 100,000 Rozani men died in a single day, Elves, Vedalken, Humans, Halflings, Firbolgs, the brutal magic of the Infernals, the ferocity of the Dragonborn and the steel machines of the Dwarves did not discriminate. Portions of the continent sunk into the ocean, such was the ferocity of the fighting, leaving only the city of Beograd standing and some minor isles where once stood proud castles, symbols of the Rozani's might and power.
Yet the cost was great, machines of war required fuel distilled by the sweat and blood of starved Dwarves, the black magic of the Infernals scorched their earth beyond use, killing many of their citizens and the sheer manpower of the Draconic peoples bled itself near to extinction. And yet, they were free, the Rozani, unable to contend with such a sudden loss of manpower, infrastructure and now a collapsing republic, were forced to withdraw to quell uprising in their home provinces. The war was over.
Now, the belligerent nations stand vigilant, with the beast of the Rozani lying dormant, the machines of war of the Dominion standing ready to fire, the blood of the Dragonborn itching to taste fresh grass and the magic of the Infernals once again primed to burn the world, it is only a question of who will strike first?
