The Draco Gerus
Some say the scales of justice must always be balanced, The Draco Gerus believe they are best shown in bronze.
Foundation
The Draco Gerus trace their roots back to the year 103 AWS, wherein they were formed by Selvir Bronzeheart with the purpose of enforcing the law systems of the Rozani, adopted for use by the Draconic Ascendancy. Named in the honour of the Bronzeheart by his successor in the year 109, it has retained this name which, to some, means law, order, stability. To others, perhaps it means a life on the run, corruption or ineffective policing.Structure
The Draco Gerus functions much like a modern day court system, with judges, though no juries, centralised around Drakkenhaus. It is headed up by the Throtomin, who is in turn served by an Aujira, who receives reports from the Bensvelk of each settlement within Draconia. The Aujira handles most day-to-day matters, though the Throtomin can step in if they so wish. The Bensvelk are the "footsoldiers" of the Draconian judiciary, with between two and twenty present in each settlement to pass judgements on everything, ranging from grazing disputes to murder allegations. The Draco Gerus also possesses an arm that specifically deals with day-to-day law enforcement, the Uskali. The Uskali are an universal law enforcement entity within the Draconic Ascendancy, composed of retired veterans of the Draconian Grand Army, as well as personnel that did not serve but joined the Uskali, supported by both the Wyvern Air Service and the Water Serpents. Amongst their duties includes general law enforcement, day-to-day defence of settlements, hunts for fugitives, protection of the judiciary and various other duties that may be assigned by the Ascendancy. They are a well funded force in Drakkenhaus and Langleton, though their presence is much more sparse outside of minor garrisons within the Greengrass Plains. On average, one may expect to meet a Farang of the Uskali at most in the hinterlands, with the majority of their command being stationed within the twin cities.Appearance
Throtomin - The head of the Draco Gerus, will typically wear a formal robe trimmed with bronzed fabric, along with a neck-plate holding the robe to their body. This plate will bear the symbol of a dragon with no eyes, indicating the blindness of their justice. Aujira - Similar to the Throtomin, though they wear a much less elaborate robe and, in place of a neckplate, they wear a ring of bronze with a dragon's claw engraved on to the signet. Bensvelk - Wear black robes trimmed with bronze on the edges, along with a bronze collar sporting a jewel in the model of a Dragon's eye. Uskali - Predominantly wear a standard uniform, equipped with a sword, spear and a shield. Mounted units exist, though these are predominantly mounted versions of a standard Uskali. The uniform consists of: a set of dark leather boots, blue or black trousers (underpadded by white leg-padding), an undershirt, bronze and black coloured tunic interposed in a four square design and a metal neck guard spanning the width of the collar bones. Low ranking members of the Uskali are expected to provide their own equipment, so quality may vary.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
