The War of the Great Ones

In the ancient times of Materia, the thee Great Species, the Krakens, Dragons, and Nephalim, engaged in a cataclysmic war for dominance over Materia. The war raged for decades. By the time it was over the populations of all 3 of the great species were reduced to less than a quarter of what they had been before. The krakens then retreated to the deep waters, only rarely ever returning to the surface. Meanwhile the Dragons and Nephalim declared an uneasy peace. Each had their strongholds, and their servants could trade and mingle freely, but no dragon or giant was permitted to stray into the territory of the other on pain of death.
