Natural Species of Materia

Materia's natural fauna resembles Earth during the late Cretaceous, mixed with the mega-fauna of the Pleistocene. You can find many examples of the following groups:

Group 1

  • Hadrosaurs
  • Ankylosaurs
  • Ceratopsians
  • Tyrannosaurs
  • Pachycephalosaurs
  • Dromaeosaurids
  • Therizinosaurs

Group 2

  • Abelisaurids
  • Carcharodontosaurids
  • Titanosaurs
  • Spinosaurids

Megafauna

  • Mammoths
  • Sabre-tooth tigers
  • Moa
  • Megalania
  • Giant Lion
  • Giant Lemur
  • Haast's Eagle
  • Paraceratheriid Rhino
  • Gastornis
  • Kelenken
  • Giant Tortoises
  • Gigantopithecus
Many others exist. Modern smaller species that fill similar niches are mostly non-existent, although creatures that fill the niches of smaller animals (such as rodents and insects) do exist. This also makes it a very foreign environment for the humanoid species from Elthelas, who are used to a world without so many species of megafauna.
