The Historians of Grace

The Historians of Grace. While this is their formal name, it is rarely uttered by the common people. The reason for this is, quite probably, the distrust between the two groups; misunderstandings and shady practices they go through to obtain information and artifacts are all to frequent, according to the neighboring populace. Despite this, the organization is well informed, and provides the most accurate and complete knowledge of Mastu's going-ons to date. Though some claim differently, the Historians of Grace are devoted to their craft, compiling each happening into one text. There are possibly tens of thousands of books in their annals, containing records of wars, ceremonies, populations, and even mythos, all aptly marked. While their group is as new as the city, there have always been people as dedicated to history as they. Organization was the one thing that set them apart.

A History of History

One day, the Historians, ever knowledge-hungry, deemed it reasonable to search for artifacts to add to their impressive display. They had been a simple, unnoticed organization up until this point, and thought that most would share their desire for insight. They couldn't have been more wrong.   Everywhere they went, the Historians were met with closed doors and false rumors meant to dissuade them. People wanted to keep their artifacts; their heirlooms; and worship them as they always have. The historians wanted first-hand accounts of events as well, which only grew the divide. So they resorted to thievery.   It didn't take long for residents to put two and two together, and everyone spread the word of relic-stealing monsters; thieves that housed no soul or compassion. Their stealing career only ever amounted to a few small items before it came to a halt, and no one ever saw them the same.   I suppose that's their own little history, and shall be long forgotten at some point. For now, though, it is safely documented in the rooms of books they keep, along with the rest. It all goes down in history.
