Malani | The Human God

Malani, as many see it, is the humans' god. While some may protest his power, claiming their god superior, there is no denying he, or someone very similar, exists. He has helped the humans through many a hardship, and harbors the source of their magic. While there are many different interpretations of him throughout the human realms, and none have been proven to be absolute truth, the historians and religious leaders of the day have come to a general consensus of his power and exploits.
Still others spit upon the heels of non-believers. Malani's influence on men is very real, to say the least, and whatever the truth may be, he doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Domains and Religion

Many of Malani's human followers see him as the embodiment of all that is righteous and fair. He rules over his believers with an unbiased and thoughtful gaze, though he is not afraid to punish evil most harshly. Because of this, the teachings of his priests often revolve around doing good and standing against said evil. Students of Malefron, as the religion is called, are supposed to protect not only their loved ones, but Malani-guided strangers as well.   Most Malefroni, the short-hand term for a follower, pray twice a day; typically in the morning and evening. While all that is needed is a moment devoted to the god, it is not unusual for some to mutter praise and requests during this time. Aside from this, Malefroni are expected to go to a shrine devoted to Malani once every month or two. There, preists talk about the teachings of the god, and tell of his prowess. On these days, many bring offerings to set upon the shrine; the best meats, a beautiful stone, Malani accepts all such gifts.

Tales

Malani isn't just a figure head, as some 'heretics' may claim; he has done some truly impressive, and helpful, things. Legends say he even battled the world itself, making it habitable for humans. While not all of his feats have, or even can, be proven, some can't be denied. A prime example is during the War of the Possessed, better known now as the 1st Slizzarí War. It is said that Malani himself came down to bless King Cainsford IV and his royal guard, causing their swords to blaze orange in the moonlight. Though Malani may have not actually appeared on the battlefield, most reports said the swords were of an orange tint, and the humans won that confrontation by a landslide.   There have also been tales of a blessed knight; Malani's right-hand man for the 50 years he lived. The crusher of evil, foe of doom, dodger of fate; he is known by many names. With Malani's power, he was a god among mortals, righting wrongs and slaying ne'er-do-wells with the help of his mighty sword. Some say that it still exists, and another knight may walk among us soon...

Holidays & Traditions

Though Malani can be very serious at times, even he knows there's time for fun and games. Parades and festivals in his honor are held twice-annually; once in summer, and once in fall. Traders and merchants of all sorts come to the larger cities to sell their wares, and contests are held nearly every hour. The streets are filled with merriment and cheer, though a non-believer might do better to avoid such gatherings.   A more common tradition is the lighting of the night, in which believers take the time to light a fresh candle outside their adobe every month. This is said to keep evil away, and grant good fortune. The candle typically only lasts a day or two, the length signifying the amount of time the benefits last. The candle-lighting is not mandatory, but most who can afford it people do; a small price to pay for safety.
