Overview

Lumenvein Bay is the vast basin where three branches of the Coldfire River debouch into the sea. Here, the water displays luminous “veins”—bands where white-sand particulates stream through clear, glassy currents beneath a surface that can show undulating white flames edged in blue during certain conditions.

Hydrology & Outfalls

  • Tri-Mouth System: Three distinct Coldfire mouths discharge into Lumenvein, each with its own circulation pattern and beaconed lane.
  • Energy Behavior: Coldfire energy is strongest inside the bay, tapering toward the Dispersion Line at the bay’s mouth; beyond that line, Glassflow conditions resume.

Hazards (Concentrated Here)

  • Paleflame Fog: Dense, luminous fog banks that form and shear without warning.
  • Glare: Powerful white-blue glare at dawn/dusk; visor panes required.
  • Sandglass Streaks: High-density plumes that score hulls and can frostbite exposed timbers.
  • Frostbite Slicks: Super-chilled films on calm surfaces; pilots read beacon cadence to avoid them.

Navigation & Control

  • Beacon Chains: Lane buoys outline Mid, East, and South East Veins.
  • Pilotage: Mandatory within the lanes; transits are timed against fog advisories and glare windows.
  • Harbor Practices: Tinted signal lamps; warded light-towers echo alerts when intent wards on nearby infrastructure ping.
