Kova Snowshoes & Trekking Poles

Move at normal speed through snowy difficult terrain.

These traditional snowshoes are crafted by Wolfen artisans for life in deep drifts. Birch frames are steam-bent into a long, slender profile, then laced tight with caribou rawhide webbing that creaks softly like old rope. Though many regional patterns exist, this versatile design is favored by travelers: its tapered, oblong length supports a natural stride and spreads weight evenly, letting the user conserve their energy from their steps not sinking as deep into the snow.

These trekking poles are a modern Wolfen design, cut from straight pine saplings and sealed to preserve the wood’s pale grain. Each pole can be broken down into four nested sections, held firm by metal collars and a line of screws that double as alignment pins. The baskets are bant from the same pine, cinched with metal webbing to keep them from warping, and each pole ends in a hardened metal spike meant to bite into packed snow and ice. Sealskin grips and wrist straps stay reliable even when wet and half-frozen.
