Crush of the Abyss

7th-level transmutation (water/earth, gravity)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M - an item that has been over 2000 below sea level.
Duration: Instantaneous

You slam local gravity inward with a benthic chord. Choose up to three creatures you can see within range that are within 30 feet of one another. Each target makes a Constitution saving throw.

  • On a failed save: the target takes force damage equal to 20% of its hit point maximum (rounded down) and becomes Crushed until the start of your next turn.
  • On a successful save: the target takes force damage equal to 20% of its current hit points (rounded down) and is not Crushed.

Crushed (condition): A crushed creature’s speed is halved, it can’t take reactions, and flying creatures descend 20 feet (can’t hover) while creatures in water sink 10 feet.

Damage notes: This damage is force. Resistance to force damage doesn’t reduce it (immunity still applies). Temporary hit points are lost before deducting from normal hit points as usual.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using an 8th-level spell slot or higher, you may target one additional creature per slot level above 7th (all targets must still be within 30 feet of at least one other target,) and the damage increases by 5% per level.
